Didn't quite get the grades you hoped for in your GCSE's or not quite sure if your grades are good enough to attend and compete on the American collegiate circuit? Below we will give a brief breakdown of what it takes academically to be eligible to compete in each division and what is needed to be deemed eligible by the NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA Eligibility Center.
NCAA - The NCAA only uses your core subjects when determining your GPA. Core subjects include English, Math, Natural/Physical Science, Social Science, Foreign Language, Comparative Religion or Philosophy.
Required GPA to be eligible to compete:
Division 1 - 2.3
Division 2 - 2.2
Division 3 - Each school has different requirements to pass admissions. No athletic scholarship at this level.
NAIA - The NAIA takes all your high school grades into consideration when determining your GPA.
Required GPA to be eligible to compete.
NAIA - 2.0
NJCAA - The NJCAA doesn't have a GPA requirement but is just proof that you have graduated from high school. So if you didn't quite score what you wanted on your GCSEs this could be the place for you. The NJCAA is a two-year college instead of a 4 year. After your two years, if you have achieved an average of a 2.0 GPA, you can transfer to the NCAA or NAIA for your remaining 2 years. If you want to find out what your GPA is or if you just need some advice/more information, please fill in a free assessment or shoot us an email.
